New Era

I did not have the opportunity to watch the inauguration on Tuesday but I was able to listen to parts of it on the radio. I think that Mr. Obama handled the blundering of the swearing in by the Chief Justice very well. He smiled & waited for Mr. Roberts to correct the wording. I do not feel that this was done intentionally, although some may feel otherwise. I think it was just a slip of the tongue which happens to all of us at some time. Just proves we are humans. One thing that did bother me was the last part of the benediction by Rev. Lowery.

“We ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to give back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man, and when white will embrace what is right, Lowery said.

Maybe I'm a bit overly sensitive but to me that is like a slap in the face. This country just elected a black man as President for the first time in history and he makes a statement like that. How are we as a nation to overcome racial division when you have people like this guy making tasteless comments. I just thought it was tacky to say something off color like that during a historical event. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Aside from the above comments, I think it went really well. I wish President Obama much success and I pray for him & his family. I may disagree with his political views but I do not wish any harm to come to the man or his family and I certainly do not wish for him to fail. I pray that God will guide him in his decisions as POTUS. I pray that he will do what is right for this Country and I pray for the safety of him & his family.

Sarah Palin

Does anyone else think that the media was biased during the elections? The way Sarah Palin was treated by the M.S.M is appalling. All I remember hearing/reading from the media about the Republican campaign was negativity but when the reported on the Democratic campaign they only had praise. I am very disappointed at the way the media showed favortism toward Barrack Obama and essentially got him elected by portraying him as "the one". They did everything in their power to make sure that the Republican party looked bad and the Democratic party looked great. That is not good journalism. Good journalism is reporting the facts and being unbiased while doing so.

I have much respect for Sarah Palin and hope that she does run in 2012; I will be the first in line to vote for her. She is a strong, smart & amazing woman and I think she is someone this country needs. I think she has as much experience as Barrack Obama if not more. She was mayor of Wassilla, Alaska before becoming Govenor of Alaska. What experience did Barrack Obama have before he was elected? He was Senator for less than 2 years. I think it's sexism the way she was treated and I believe it was only because she was running on the Republican ticket instead of the Democrat ticket.

Anyway, I found this video interview of Sarah lashing out at the way she & her family was treated and I want to share with everyone that feels she was disrespected. I am proud of her for not rolling over.

You go girl!

Movies

I love movies but usually my kids want to go with me and hubby doesn't like to go but today we all went to see Clint Eastwood's new movie "Gran Torino". Went to the early showing thinking it wouldn't be very crowded. IT WAS. I don't think there were any empty seats in the theater today.

This is a must see movie. I recommend this movie especially if you are a Clint fan. This movie was made in 5 weeks and he used unknown actors. It does not have a bunch of sound effects or special effects, it's not a blow em up, smash up kind of movie either. It is awesome.

Drama

Why is it that teenage girls have so much drama? They are more worried about their hair, makeup, clothes, boys than about getting an education.

My 13 y.o. daughter was crying this morning because she says everyone at school is mean to her :(
I don't understand why people have to be so mean & hurtful. She is a sweet girl and doesn't make trouble but it seems that drama follows her. I don't know if it is jealousy or self-esteem issues or what it is with these girls. They have their whole lives ahead of them and should be enjoying their teen years and stop trying to grow up so quickly. I try to tell her not to let the name calling bother her but I know that it does. I told her not to worry about what others say but she does anyway.

I am at a loss of what to do to help her. If it was one or two maybe but when it's a whole group of kids what do you do? I don't want her to be miserable. I want her to care about school and get a good education. It really hurts me to see her upset like this and makes me feel like I have failed her as a parent. I try to raise my kids with good morals & values but am fighting an uphill battle with television, myspace, youtube, facebook and other media outlets. I can't be with my children 24/7. When I send my kids to school each morning I'm hoping they are getting an education in Math, Reading, Science, History, Spelling, English but it seems to me it's more about fitting in and being part of the IN CROWD. They are teenagers, they should be enjoying life not stressing about boys, clothes, ect.

My husband & I work full-time jobs and we can't homeschool our kids or be with them all the time. We do spend quality time with them and work to instill good Christian values in them but you know kids sometimes give in to peer pressure.

I've been praying that God will take care of my kids when they are away from us and to give them the strength to turn away from the evil they are presented with everyday. I pray that my daughter will have friends that care about her feelings and will be there for her. I pray that God will remind her that he loves her for who she is and will always love her and never betray her. I pray that God will give me the strength & the wisdom to help her through this.

I've made several New Year's Resolutions:

1) Get closer to God
2) Be the best mother I can be
3) Be the best wife I can be
4) Be the best friend I can be
5) Do my best in everything I do
6) Exercise more & eat healthier
7) Find ways to reduce stress levels

That should be more than enough for this year

Afternoon Goals

My goals this afternoon:

Finish this stack of reports I have on my desk.
Enjoy some ice cold sweet tea.
Make someone laugh.
Watch the Florida/Oklahoma championship game.

Sleep

I did sleep better last night; don't know if it was from the long soak in the whirlpool or if I was just really tired or a combination of the two.

I think I need a new bed. I would love to try one of those sleep number beds. I've heard they are fantastic and you can sleep like a baby (does that mean up every three hours? lol coz i'm already doing that) Seriously, having a good bed to sleep in does help.

Laughter

I enjoy making people laugh. When I see someone who is sad, angry or just having a bad day, I want to make them laugh.

Laughter is good for you so I try to laugh every day. Some people call me goofy or silly but that's fine if I'm making them laugh.

2009

Wow! 2009 hasn't started out like I was hoping. I haven't had time to hardly think about my New Year's Resolution much less do anything about working on any of them.

Things have been hectic at work and with all the normal household things that need to be done, I have very little time for anything else because I always make time for my family if nothing else.

We have a fun activity that we all like to do together and that's playing Guitar Hero on the Wii. We got the new World Tour version for Christmas and it's really a blast.

Well, I have to get back to work now and finish the billing so I can get out of here on time tonight. I will post more when time allows.

I'm hoping to go home and take a nice long soaking bath in the whirlpool and slip into my silky p.j.'s and read a book for a bit before turning in for hopefully a good nights rest.

Haven't been sleeping much lately. Seem to be a little stressed.

MUST WORK ON THAT
